The client, Mr. Babu, approached me with a limited budget for a 1,300 square feet home. The plot is accessed via a private road. The plot is naturally buffered from the commotion of the surroundings, allowing the residents to cultivate a bond with nature. There is a sit-out area incorporated into the design of the residence so that family members can enjoy their surroundings while feeling protected.
The exterior of the residence features a neutral color scheme. To give texture to the outdoor surface, grey and brownish-orange cladding stones are used. The Jaali bricks are used both for aesthetic and ventilation purposes, giving the residence a rather airy appearance.
The living room and dining room are separated by 30 cm. This creates a sense of volume in the space because the ceiling in the living room is higher than in the dining room. Direct views of the courtyard are created by slit openings in the living room.
